As well as working from home, I currently work for the following:
The South East Cancer Foundation
I work as part of a team of complementary therapists at the SECF in Earl's Court, Waterford. The centre provides all sorts of therapies, such as reflexology, counselling, colour therapy, and bereavement counselling to Cancer patients and their carers in the South East of Ireland. Gentle massage given to Cancer patients at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York is well-known to help comfort and alleviate the anxiety felt by patients during this very difficult time. Research in this area is ongoing to dispel the myth that Cancer patients cannot receive massage.
The Department of Psychiatry in Waterford Regional Hospital
Amongst the occupational therapies offered to patients in the Department of Psychiatry at WRH, massage therapy is now available. I find working in this area extremely fulfilling and enjoyable. It enables me to witness time and time again how powerful and beneficial touch is for the mind as well as the body. The sessions with patients are very successful and their feedback always positive.
