About Thai Foot Massage
This massage originates from Thailand where it has been practiced over centuries. Beginning with some deep breathing and gentle passive hips rotation and legs stretching, the treatment continues to the lower legs, feet and hands. Stimulating reflex points and following the Thai energy lines on the feet and hands, it has elements of shiatsu, reflexology, Chinese massage and yoga incorporated into it. The technique is said to stimulate the activity of internal organs and thus be beneficial for internal health. Thai Foot massage is still taught by Budhist monks in the temples of Thailand.
The influence of reflexology
The science of reflexology is based on the premise that on the soles and on top of the feet & hands there is a complete map of the human body. There are zones and reflex areas in the feet/hands which correspond to all glands, organs, and systems of the body. This treatment assists the body through pressure applied on the feet and hands which stimulates reflexes, and nerve connections. The aim of the treatment is to induce a deep feeling of balance and relaxation throughout the body.
